We recently returned from a wonderful vacation on the island of Kauai. One of my favorite places in the entire world. I spent most of my summers there while growing up and both my parents were born and raised on the island of Kauai. When my mom passed away several years ago we sprinkled her ashes there as this was her wish. The island is such a spiritual place for me. One early morning I took my kids to one of the beautiful beaches there and my daughter was just playing and walking on the beach. I took this capture and it has such an ethereal feel to it. I felt my sweet mom was watching over my darling daughter. They never had the chance to meet each other but I know my children would have adored her as much I did. My mom always wanted grandchildren and she pretty much gave up the idea as none of my sisters or I had children before she passed. I know she sees them everyday and is always with us in a higher sense. This image is a reminder to me of that. Thank you mom for being who you are….

I Won 1st Place! | Orange County Child Photographers
October 22, 2011
OMG!! So to my surprise I woke up and saw a pingback to iheartfaces.com and thought something was up. Well I had no idea I’d win 1st place! I’m so thrilled and excited! Thank you so much!!!
Special thanks to this week’s Guest Photographer Judge, Femi Corazon!
“There is a very delicate, sweet and soft quality to this portrait. It has a very painterly feel. I love the wisps of hair blowing around her face, her lovely expression and her body language expressed through her hands. This beautiful image makes me feel like I know this little girl. A perfect capture and beautiful post-processing.”

What To Wear Guides | Orange County Photographer
September 17, 2011
With the holidays coming and holiday photoshoots coming up I thought I’d get some What to Wear Guides for you all! One thing I tell my clients is to stay away from the white shirts and jeans look. It’s been done too often and no one wants to look like everyone else do they? Other things that I suggest:
1) Stay away from loud, busy prints.
2) Stay away from graphic tees and athletic shoes.
3) Make sure the colors of your clothing work in harmony. A good way to tell is to lay all of your outfits out and see if anyone outfit looks out of place.
4) Outfits do not need to match exactly however, they should coordinate.
5) Outfits should not overshadow the subjects which is YOU.
Here are some outfits that I put together for you all. Outfits were taken from Gap, Banana Republic, and Piperline.

Happy Birthday Sweet Hannah and a Farwell
August 7, 2011
Some of you may remember Hannah from back in March when I had the opportunity to photograph her. She was the sweet little girl that was battling cancer. Her Aunts tell me she was a little fiesty one with so much spirit. In April she lost her battle and left this world. Definitly, not without leaving a mark. She has touched many lives including mine. She recently had her 6th Birthday and her family and friends celebrated with pink balloons, pink cupcakes and a beautiful pink sky! Happy Birthday Hannah! May you be in peace and free from pain.
God looked around His garden
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered “Peace be thine”.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

When I had my first child I didn’t even know that Newborn Photographers existed. I didn’t realize that in the land of photography, newborns meant 2 weeks or younger. Luckily, when I was pregnant with my 2nd child a friend linked me to a local newborn photographer. I cannot tell you how much I LOVE those images. It was an investment that I do not regret.
In reality there are really only a few days in your life that you will treasure with all your heart. One of those days will most likely be your wedding day and another is the day you welcome your children into the world. These days will pass before you know it. Most save for their wedding day and lavish on a beautiful dress, a big wedding and of course the ultimate photographer. Having a child is like having a wedding. This event really should be planned out somewhat like a wedding day. I mean how often are you going to have a newborn? For most people, only once or twice.
After all the swaddle blankets are given away, after all the binkies are gone, after they are sleeping through the night and they are in their toddler bed, what are you going to treasure from their newborn stage? That Pottery Barn crib isn’t going to bring you memories that you can hold on forever. That’s been sold on craigslist and is gone.
When you are a new mom the last thing that will be on your mind is arranging for a newborn photography session. You are going to BE.A.BUSY.GIRL. and I mean BUSY. You will only be thinking of feeding, changing diapers and SLEEPING!! Scheduling your baby’s portrait session with me before you deliver is so convenient. You have your appointment on my books. You contact me when you deliver. I am there in 6-10 days. I bring my studio to your home. Done!
I get many inquiries from moms wanting newborn portraits of their 4+ week old baby. My heartaches to have to tell them that their baby has already outgrown the newborn stage for photography. Many don’t realize it but babies lose so much flexibility after only 2 weeks, they are no longer sleeping as solidly and their skin can tend to break out. All this means is that the newborn shots you see on my site are not always achievable.
Plan ahead and schedule your newborn session with me before your baby arrives! It’s not something you will regret.
Please visit my site to view my newborn and maternity galleries. Mention this article and receive 25 custom birth announcements* when you book your newborn prior to delivery.
*Not valid with any other offer.
And because a blog post just isn’t much without newborn photos…..Just a couple!

Wow… amazing. Its like heaven reached down to touch her…
Stunning!! Such an amazing image!
This image makes me cry. In a good way. I’m so saddened for your loss, and fear the day I have to sprinkle my mom’s ashes. But, I’m happy for you too. Happy that she watches over you. Happy that your love for her is being passed down to your own children. I love that Kauai provides you so much peace and spirituality to you. This image is gorgeous. And so are you.
This is amazing Clarice. You have such talent.
